it on my 93 525i, the passenger side wiper doesn't sit flush with the windsheild when at the rest position. when put into motion it'll make full contact about 2-3inches up. the wiper arm is also making contact with the trunk.

notice the the wear from making contact to the hood on the wiper arm...not good!!

any ideas?

some how i think it's the wiper arm, but, do wiper arms go bad?

does it look like the correct wiper arm? (can get more pics)

I got a set of 22" blades and the passengers doesnt sit flush, the proper blade is a 24" one thats mounted off center, probably 15" to left 9" to right or something, I am probably goin back to just replacing the inserts on the OEM blade, what a pain

all the way around. Also I believe that the main arch (that one that fits on the arm ending "U" is bended (not enough arch), also it seems too long. Will take a picture on mine, and some measures, and will let you know.

Regarding the hitting problem with the hood, I believe there is some posting on this by the beginning of this year. Take a look into the archives and you will find a solution for the hitting.

My 1992 525i does this very same thing - rubbing the hood and not setting flush. Must be normal.

i find that only american replacements do the arc thing....they don't fit flush with the windshield. all of the bosch wipers that i buy from el cheapo autoparts stores like discount auto parts for 10-12 seem to fit flush.

note that the proper position instalation is very important.

The passenger's side wiper arm has been redesigned. I bought a new one from BMA, and it solved the problem with the hood.

Others have tried filing the arm a bit at contact point to relieve it, also, some have suggested that the hood has sagged in the middle over time and might need to be bent or pulled back up a bit to reestablish the gap with the arm.

Seems to be a design fault, fixed mine by bending to hood out a bit, by standing on the shock mounts in the engine bay then putting my knee in the middle of the hood where the wiper arm touchs and giving the outer ends of the hood a slight tug.

just picked up the bmw wiper blade for $22 and it did the trick!! no more gap...

you can see why it's important to get the bmw wiper because of the arc on the passenger side. compare the drivers side to the passenger side and you'll see the difference...

i'll have to look more into the hood problem though...

edit: sorry i haven't figured out posting pics yet

Any troouble with wiper blades, no matter what blades, are a symptom of spindle wear, if you want to keep the car, bite the bullet, search the forum and change the mechanism.
