I broke one of my keys and need to replace it. Is the dealer the only option for getting a new key made?

AFAIK, a full service locksmith should be able to cut you one of the BMW "high security" type keys. Let your fingers do the walking!!

Depedning on the car. You can go to a BMW dealer and he can order you a key for the car. Be forewarned - a large number of early e32/e34 cars are missing key coded due to a BMW screw up.
