Shifter Knob Problem

This was sent to me by a guy in Venezuela. Can anyone help? I don't have a 540.

I just bought a 1994 540i and after traveling 12 hours on it, when i got home the shifter knob button wouldnt work, so i couldnt put it in parking, after several attemps and some minor punches it worked, but yesterday when i tried to use it again it jus didnt work, the S K button feels loose and i cant move the shifter from parking.
Any direction on this matter will be of great help since I am in Venezuela, 3 hours away from a dealer.
