E34 Error code 54 ???????

Further to my note about my 520i '95 Touring a few days ago running flat as a pancake, no power etc etc, the local (non-BM) garage say its coming back with an error code of 54 when they plug their diags in.

Anyone have an idea what fault this code relates to please?

They looked in their book and it listed fault descriptions for 1-53, and 55-200+ but a blank for 54!

Its most likely version 3.3.1 and if it is then the error code 54 is for
Dme control -unit power supply via main relay...
Whether that helps you any i don't know...

3 possible problems for code 54
1/. Engine control module (ECM).
2/.Transmision control module (TCM).
Both are communication faults (wiring short to earth, TCM trouble codes stored.
3/. Battery voltage-too low/high
fault could be wiring/alternator/battery
