For all you guys who haven't experienced replacing struts, some advice as I found out the hard way. I replaced the rear struts with Boges. Big positive difference in body roll and that rear end dive during shifting. I retained the stock springs as I like the OEM ride height. I ordered new struts from BMA along with upper strut mounts and rubber spring retainers. Replacing the strut was not a big deal. Big mistake I made was not ordering new bump stops. My local BMW dealer did not stock them so my car was laid up 4-5 days.
The bump stops hold the skirts that cover the shock stems from getting dirty and since they're made of a foam material, don't last all that long. Mine were trashed.
Moral of the story, get new bump stops too.
