I live in Chicagoland and was out of town for about a week. My car sat outside the entire time without being started. Now it won't start and hardly makes a sound. I've taken the battery out and brought it inside to warm up for a day or so. (Hope that works). Anything else I could try? What else can I do?

Try jump starting it? :) If the battery sunk below 10v for an extended period of time (not really sure if a week constitutes an "extended period of time", but it may), the combination of the cold and the low voltage probably killed it. How old's the old one? It may be time for a new autozone duralast special...
good luck, matey.

check this one out, might help in the future (http://www.wolverineheater.com/)
I think keeping the battery inside at a warm place will not help you that much. Don't you have a battery charger?
If you are often away for longer periods and do not use the car, I would think about a battery charging system.
There are trickle chargers, and for countries/areas with a lot of sunshine a nice big solar charger for the battery is not that bad.
