Last week I was driving and all of the sudden my car just died. I tried to restart and it would start up and it felt like it had a major vacuum leak. So I read the forum and checked the usual (intake boot and all other visible vacuum lines and still it wouldn't idle and felt like it had no power. Finally I ordered the rear cover plate(egr, diverter valve, whatever the hell it is) and once installed I still had the same problem. Turns out that the intake manifold gaskets were bad. That job was a pain in the assssssssss. Especially since it is only about 20 degrees and I don't have a garage. It idles great now! I am just glad that this experience is over(until they go bad again, which I read that they don't last too long)
If anyone has any idea on what else to check as far as vacuum leaks to cure my lumpy idle let me know. It is not the nikisil? block either b/c I had that checked out not to long ago.
