how can i tell if i have a LSD?

my 90 535ia has heated seats and so, i think it comes
with a LSD...

but its an auto so will the jack up the rear and spin
1 tire test work? what gear do i put the tranny in?
which way should the tire spin?

(maybe i'll just find a patch of ice?

if you see trails and arent hungry for about 6 hours you had LSD, if everythings funny or makes you cry at the same time you have had LSD.

jack one rear tire off the ground, put it in neutral with the park brake off, if the tire spins forward or reverse you dont have it, if you cant spin it unless you try REALLY hard you have it.

Chock the front wheels, put it in neutral & release the hand brake, and jack one side. If it spins freely then it's an open diff, if it won't spin, then it's lsd. Doesn't matter which direction you spin it. If you raise both rears off the ground, the lsd will spin both wheels the same direction, the open diff will spin them in opposite directions.

or...look at the tag on the diff. "...3.46...." = open. S3.46...= limited slip.
