520i. This is a dream coming true and I don't want it to tun into a nightmare. HELP ME OUT PLEASE.

That is a major operation. Probably it will be better if you buy a 540 and sell the 520.
It is not done with the engine. The engine management is different, probably the wire looms are different for engine mangament, the radiator might be bigger, the trans is a different one, the diff is a different one (ratio), and also the exhausts are different.
Have you checked if you get an approval for road legal driving from the authorities?
Probably they might ask for up-grading of the brakes too??
