Bought it with 178,000 six months ago. The lesbian I bought it from had it for 18 months and put 45k on it in that time. She let me drive it for a week and I was hooked. It had all the records with it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it.

I just moved up to a E39, sold my 1992 - 535 to my mechanic with 302,000 miles in PERFECT condition. Bought it with 25,000 miles. I hope that my e39 holds up as well.

Computer was replaced at 81,xxx. Last night I did the math 160,505!

This thread begs the question, is it better to have HIGHER or LOWER mileage?

I guess it depends on how you think about it... An exceedingly high number would, I suppose, be an indication of either the owner's large bank account and/or mechanical abilities, not to mention the durability of the design. I'm not quite sure what a lower mileage car does to anybody :)

I bought mine 2.5 years ago with 127,000 miles & currently it has 142,000. Normally I only average 5K a year on my 4 wheeled vehicles but there was an unexpected 2800 mile trip that bumped my mileage up. If the weather is decent I'm on one of my motorcycles so I expect this car to last me many years.

Hmmm - I bought it in Nov 2003 with 139k on it and This morning in Feb 2005 it just turned 180k.

I love this car. I can't explain why - I just do. It has soul, personality, and manners - none of which I have found in other cars I have owned. Since I just replaced the tranny and about every other wear item known to bimmerhood - I am committed to keeping it. My son has his eye on it for when he starts to drive. (In his dreams!) - JT

Bought mine with 151,000, when I left, it had 210,000 miles and ran perfect, except it is in need of a new alternator. Runs strong and smooth, and would see 120mph almost daily.

I don't see myself ever selling it.

Yeah, I've only been behind 4750 miles. Bought my 92 5 series with 95k 4 months ago. Now at 99,750. So far $1500.00 plus the 92 octane,(car only runs on super). I feel like a king driving that car. I feel safe. Its ben worth it. Saving for a 98, 528 with no more than 60k on it. 2 is better than 1.

Replaced front ends, struts, discs, control arms and brake pads but it still wobbles - feels like holding a tiger by the tail on an uneven road. Replaced battery last weekend and ABS/ASC lights disappeared, MPG improved and security system now works.

you have got bad tyres bent wheels or you need hubcentric rigs,or a combination of any two.....

I got my 83 528e 4 years ago started with 136000m now has 176000m, still runs awesome. 89 535i started with 167k and have had it for a month now and have put 1200miles.... still runs great tho :)

I got mine Bimmer in September with 83K miles on it just turned 90K last Wednesday. I’m loving it so far. Unfortunately I bumped into some financial problems and thinking of selling it, but every time I look at the car my heart goes soft and I just wanna keep it. I think that it completes me. There’s something spiritual about this ride……

106k 6K are mine

Bought my 90 525i last fall from a dealer friend with 100,105 miles on it. I have only put about 6000 miles on it since.

The car had one owner and came with all of the orignal manuals, records and even the dealer window sticker @ $34,500 in 1989. And had been under a BMW service contract up until just before I got hold of it...It still has BMW spark plugs.

This has got to be the best car I have ever owned.

Bought it 9/9/99 with 83k now at 135k miles. So 52k are ours (wife's car.) Lots of little stuff above maintenance items; guibo, t-stat, fan clutch, front end bushings, struts, fuel pump, rotors, rechromed the original wheels, had the stereo reconditioned...
Runs, drives, handles very well. Great car. Wife LOVES the bright red and will die before she gets an SUV or something bigger. Hope to see 200k miles before we part ways.
