I was rear ended Monday. The Engine Oil Pressure alarm went off a few miles later and my 1989 (M20) 525i stalled. It restarted a short time later and then stalled out again. Afraid of doing more damage, I had it towed to a shop.
My mechanic changed the oil pressure sensor, but still no joy.
He can't find the reason for the pressure drop. He says it could be that the oil pump gulped some air as a result of the accident, but can't be sure.
After two days of chasing the problem, he's only charging me for the sensor.
He's sort of giving me the impression that I shouldn't throw anymore money at the problem because it could lead down a very dark road. Seeing as how I put $2300 into this car late last year to repair the damage from a broken timing belt, I'm having a hard time deciding whether to keep it or sell it for whatever I can get.
Any advice?
