so, I wonder what 0-60 is in an 8000 pound E34? I like how they say "suspension OK"

just a little bit slower... different rear end gear will solve that problem. But hey! At least you get to live another day...

browse some of the other cars for sale, there is another 5 series and several 7's as well as a slew of SUVs. theres a toyota landcruiser with some really reall interesting featueres and a 750il with electrified door handles and pepper sprayers ( i assume car mounted). i wanna know how they make the like.. 3inch thick windows fit in the OE doors.

Wasn't there an armored or security 5/7 series model available from the factory?

Back then? Very rare... special request only. Not sure about this car. After this, they were only available to the 7 series... and now the current production can be had in 5 and 7 series... 5 series will set you back from $88K and on for armored... not a bad price compared to this E34 that is 9 years old... but then again, it is an E34!

Forget about these cars for daily drive. High fuel consumption, slow acceleration, high wear on suspension due to the weight.
In addition less comfortable, as the windows usually cannot be lowered or not completely depending on the protection type.
The front glass is usually the escape route in case of accidents and a small explosion comes and the window is gone. Otherwise one is trapped in the car.
All built-in.

1) Glass areas: Bullet-resistant glasses are 40mm thick, curved and contoured. Transparent armor multi-layer glass and polycarbonate inner layer to prevent spalling upon ballistic impact.

i bet it is sooo quiet =]

yea but it's not drive through friendly, the drivers window is the only one that lowers and then only 6", i have a 92 750il with the factory insulated glass/fome in the door panels at the yard, it's around 1/2 inch thick and id love to have it but have no use for a e32

Our 540i was built in South Africa 11/93 and imported to Australia in 2002. It has supposedly bullet proof glass (but it isn't 40mm thick) and bullet protection in the doors somehow - I havn't looked yet. This level of protection (I am told) was/is common in South Africa because of the threat of armed car jackers who don't ask you to leave the car - they shoot you and drag you out - or so I was told.

All you need to do now is tell the Kiwis that they can't play cricket or rugby either and you might just need an armoured E34. :D

Hi Phil,

I don't think it's BS. That's why someone invented a flamethrower to "scald" the car hijackers in S.A.

my name is knockout ned, from the city of god.....
if you akkurate enuf, you don't have to worry about nobody firin' back
besides, alls i have to do is crack my window and use this

funny thing (tangential to the thread). i sees all these gangster types holding their guns sideways. i took two girls to the range in december. one of them jokingly asked if they could fire it "tupac style" (ie sideways, they're white, btw). i said "ok" which took them aback. they fired it. the fresh case jammed against the expended case something serious. it took me almost two minutes to get it out. i fire the gun sideways when im using my left hand (ie i'm right handed). this is something professionals teach if you are using your non shooting hand cause your other hand is disabled (somebody shot it, hit it with a jackhammer, stabbed it). it doesn't work very well, but itll certainly hit an 8.5x11 sheet of paper at 4 yards or so.

i've shot a few bowling pins and steel plates wid da sideways action, the group i shoot with gets a kick out of it when it works, sometimes you get a stubbern pin that won't drop after 5 or 6 rounds so ill lob one at it sideways usually without aiming and get it
