BMP has some old stock Hartge mufflers made by supersprint, list is like 950.00 and they are selling for 300.00, have around 6 available. The deal is they are listed for 90-95 525i but in the supersprint catalog the 90 535 uses the same muffler as the 90-95 525 so these Hartge's should fit my 535 using my fuzzy logic. Any thoughts/opinions on the Hartge or supersprint mufflers as to sound and/or performance?
thanks

i like my supersprint. it's a little louder and deeper than stock. when you floor it, it sounds awesome. very nice performance sound all around. does not drone the cabin. do not expect any performance gains.
that's a very good price on a full system.

It would be a great price for the whole system but it is the price for muffler only.

still cheaper (supersprint rear muffler is $462.76).

Actually trying to get some more opinions as to whether it will fit and work on my 90 535. Here is the link to the supersprint application that lists the same muffler for the m50 525 and m30 535 thus my reasoning that the Hartge for the 525 will fit my 535.

I just ordered one. Talked to the rep and he says that if you take it to a muffler shop there will be no real problem. The pipes do not line up exactly with the stock pre-muffler pipes but a shop will be able to fix that ez. With Supersprint, you have to buy the pre and muffler piece as well as an install kit which makes everything line up. I doubt a muffler shop will charge you more than about $50 to install.

$300 is a very nice price. How much would it cost to get it installed?
Also, do you have a link to get it at this price.

In the bimmer bargains section, they have hartge shocks and springs for $800-900. Anyone know how this would compare to a sachs kit?

Anyone has any sound clips of it? I like the sound of eisenmann but too expensive.

my guess is that you are right. i would make the same conclusion.

this is what i actually did with my supersprint. i got the supersprint rear muffler used. when i was inquiring about a new rear supersprint muffler, bmp kept insisting i needed the premuffler. i didn't think so, so i took it to a muffler shop, had the original muffler cut off and the supersprint welded on in it's place. works and sounds great. and iirc, it was around $50 or so. i have a friend with an e28 that did the same exact thing.

Yup, I received mine too. Got too much going on for an install this week. Maybe next week I can get to this. I had my car up last nite and I can see my stock muffler is not long for this world. So have to get after it soon. Probably take it to a muffler shop and have them do it right. I have a great one right close in Casa de Oro (Spring Valley, CA).
Yes, very cool tip. I also got the Hartge strut brace from eBay yesterday. I'll be all looking Harge pretty soon.!

Does this exhaust provide any hp gains or just for pure sound? I have a 90e34 M20. Looking for some easy bolt on hp upgrades.
