Recently I bought a 1989 525i, runs great but I didn't get any maintenance history on it. The car has just over 160,000 miles on it so i'm concerned that it might be in need of some preventative maintenance. I'm changing the timing belt and the waterpump this week, any suggestions what else?

you should do both mainenance 1 & 2 without a history. You dont need to do it all at once but all iterms should get a once over and start replacing items down the list.

while your at the waterpump change the thermostat and all hoses, clicked one off.

what is maintenance 1 & 2 ?
