thanks for the response although i think his figures are incorrect . he says the all alloy m60 weighs 146 kgs while the all steel 525 diesel weighs 132 kgs so it doesnt quite add up.
thanks for the info shogun, that was a good link, didnt realise the m60's had 4 bolt mains and forged rods. a good solid bottom end, although thats the first time ive seen a plastic inlet manifold!

Interesting that the manifold is plastic ... purely from the moulding perpective, it must be a VERY complicated tool to do that = VERY expensive

thanks for all the info guys, yeah aparantley it is made from
quote " one piece injection moulded plastic which produces extremely smooth internal surfaces which reduce uncontrolled air swirling and therefor does not require additional machining during production"
additionally the weight of that plastic inlet manifold would be significantly less than an alloy one so it will keep the weight down for my proposed e21 transplant
