Sorry if this has already been posted...
I just got back from a weeklong conference and found a new Roundel waiting for me. In it was an excellent table of BMW's engineering projects by Exx designation. In addition to the ones we all know (E34, E30, E46, etc) most of the gaps under E50 are filled in with descriptions of various prototypes (such as front drive 3 series, etc). It also has a good list of the E100+ series (1960 to 1975 cars).
If the table is online somewhere, someone ought to put up a link to it in any FAQ.

That can be found on that good french site : http://www.6enligne.net.
The exact page, for those of you who don't understand french is :
http://www.6enligne.net/html/codesbmw.html
And in that page, there are 3 interesting links :
* Modèles sans codes -->models without code, the old ladies
* Anciens codes numériques --> old codes
* Codes en "E" --> actual codes (Exx)
All with pictures !
