    Default Bimmer making high-pitched sounds?

As the title says: for the past few days I've been hearing high-pitched squeal from the back of my car - it seems like the sound is coming from the area where the tank is located. Fuel pump bearing? Does anyone have a clue about this one?

    Thanks in advance!

Could very well be the fuel pump. It occurs at a constant pitch and only while the engine is running?

Yes, exactly! Fuel pump bearing? Should I ignore it and wait for the fuel pump to fail or launch a preemptive strike? What's worse that can happen if I ignore it?
