if its old get a new one, if you dont know how old get a new one, small price to pay when I read so many people having low voltage problems even when the car starts. sell the old one to a neighbor to recoup some money?

    Car start's fine.
I was poking around cleaning etc..
and I thought I wounder how old this batt is then I remembered an old thread
you can work out the year it was made by the code. But I can't find the thread.
I'm not going to buy a new batt when it could be a new batt!

Usually month and year are shown on a sticker on the battery.

My battery is showing pretty low voltages according to (I think) shogun's analysis guide..... If I buy a new one (I'm probably going to hold off another couple of months till I get my next MOT done to see if the car majorly fails and will cost a shed load to fix etc), will it come charged up or do I need to fit it and then jump start from the battery I've taken out? Is it worth keeping the old one in the boot for emergency jump starting? If so, how often does it need charged etc to keep topped up etc?

    Thanks
