random stalling????????!!!!!!!!!!

while just sitting at a light the car just off and dies, it doesent start to shake, and its not because of the way i drive (leave the clutch in, or somthing of the natuer) on a possibly related manor, when im hard into the brakes and i come to a stop, the engine seems to be effected, the idel is real low and it makes a whining noise, and i dont know what this it??????? any help would be greatly appriacted

My guess would be a vacuum leak somewhere. Have you checked the hoses under the hood for cracks or breaks? There have been some good posts on where to look for vacuum leaks, the archives might have what you need.
