    Default ::.. Brake Questions

    1. When reversing/rolling backwards, the brakes 'catch' sometimes... the pedal depresses by itself a bit and releases. Feels like it notched something and passed over. This only happens going backwards and not very often. Just had the brakes done, shoes/discs and all. What might have been missed?

    2. Depressing the brake pedal interferes with AM radio reception. Grounding, or something else perhaps tied with the first question?

    Default Assuming I understand your description...

    anything other than brake judder when braking in reverse is probably due to the ABS readjusting itself to function in this direction, or something to this effect. This is what I've been told. I believe this is also normal. You should've had this happening to you even before you did the brake job. This has been happening to me for years and it doesn't happen all the time. It seems it's reverse speed- and level of braking effort-dependent. Others may want to comment on this.

    Yes, it did happen before the job... I was hoping the job would take care of it... My parking brake was hosed so I thought that was it.

    Radio reception interference is usually the result of electrical noise - in your case, it sounds like you have a brake switch that's dying on you. In my case, I got a "Brake Light Circuit" warning on the dash read-out and intermittent brake lights. The switch is a pain to get to, but easy to replace. If that's not it, then maybe there is a loose connection or frayed wire in your brake light circuit. Hope this helps.
