Made a dramatic improvement in my car when I tightened it.
i have a rattle from my steering, been noticable for a while, now much worse.
my mechanic friend advised me that the coupling at the bottom of the steering column inside engine bay just before the steering box was worn.
on checking at the weekend, it seemed tight enough to me, but i did notice that the shaft going into the car had some play in it.
How do i fix this, is it just the case of tightening up the large nut found at the bottom of the steering column inside the car??

... may help to start engine to get power steering assist... note if too tight limits your telescoping ability, not sure if that's an issue... but think you'll see it's the single biggest improvement, and costs about zero. another way to think of it - it won't get any tighter...only probably looser...,Rob.
thats what i like a free repair!!
hopefully that will fix it, the rattle is driving me mad, and the steering does feel a little dead at straight ahead.
wish all other niggles were fixed for so cheap - next the headlight...
