i would and do jack on the diff but i wouldn't jack on the center of the rear crossmember, it's not built to be strong in that direction

yeah, and WTF is up with putting jack stands on the factory jacking points? I've always been told that that's a good way to drop the car on your head. In fact, a dude in our local CCA got killed this way (or maybe he didn't use stands and just had a jack there, I forget). Also seems like a poorly placed stand at those points could result in a destroyed rocker.
