Default Holy Moley -- Bill / Winfred -- ever seen one of these?!

And here I thought all along that all M20s had the battery under the hood, all M50s under the back seat.

    Enter exhibit A:

An 11/90 build date high mileage 525, evidently a US model.

What the hell is the battery doing there?! All evidence points to this being a later 525: pergament interior, newer color scheme on dash and trim panels, newer style heated seat switches, an M50 under the hood.

Yet, there's no grounding plate at the rear seat, the battery tray appears to be factory welded, and the cabling appears original, with the exception of a small cut on one of the rubber gaskets between the ebox and the engine compartment. Condition of the car indicates that everything's original.

Anyone own or have seen a car like this?

I know that at least the '91 M50s have the battery in the engine compartment, I not sure about '92s. All M50tu's batteries are under the seat.

Brandon, I'm sure I've seen MY '91s with the battery under the rear seat. It may be a date cutoff, though.
