You were at your tranny with that red fluid... You need to replace that red fluid but we need to know what car you got... year and model to tell you what fluid it takes and how to put it back.
sorry to bother everyone, but i just did a stupid thing and i need your help:
i tried to change engine oil for the first time, and i got the wrong plug. the liquid is redish color. the plug is further down at the rear part of the engine. i finally located the right engine oil plug. is that transimission fluid? what should i do? thanks much.

You'll want either Redline MTL or a similar quality gear fluid, you might do a search to see what other fluids are recommended, but most people seem to like Redline. You will also need a fluid pump as you must pump the fluid up into the fill hole. It's a pretty simple operation and you should do it every couple of years anyway.Originally Posted by samhahn

Fill hole on the 260/6 is on the right (passenger's in the US) side of the trans, near the top and center. You'll need a 17mm hex key if it's an early trans (would require gear oil/and NOT have a "Use ATF Only" green sticker on the bellhousing), 10 or 14mm if it's the later kind.
