This past summer, MWrench (with a little bit of assistance from me) swapped out the engine in my car. The original engine had 200,000 miles on it. The "new" engine came out of a wreck, and has only 37,000 on it.
Now, just for curiosity's sake, I've started to tear the engine down. Why? Just for amusement. I've never taken such a large engine apart before. The last engine I dismantled was a Honda 50cc trail bike engine.
So far it's easy. (except neither of the distributors wanted to come out of the end of the camshaft, so the bolts had to be drilled out.)
Enjoy a few pictures of the process.
Afterwards... maybe I'll make some art project out of the pieces.
