Us non-Sport 6-speeds have Recaro-made sport seats and a stiffer suspension, I think that's all that differs from the A/Ts. Well other than the M/T obviously.

The M540i has the M5 3.8 brakes (nt)
'85 Euro 635csi Race Turbo, megasquirt, Group A
'92 525i Touring 5 speed, 3.46 diff, UUC 8.5lb flywheel, soon to be turbo.
'02 Subaru WRX Wagon with STI springs, bigger sway bars
Also, the 95' 540s have vented rear rotors and different calipers (40/2x) and possibly carriers than the 94' ones (caliper is 40/10). 40 is the piston diameter and the second number is the rotor width.
I made this mistake when buying rear brakes- the ETK lists them as being the same part number, which is false.
