Hi Guys,
Here an again crying for help. I am thinking to do transmission filter replacment and have few questions. Here are they...
1# I am ordering tranny filter kit from BMA (click on the like to see kit)

I think it has 2 gasket and a filter.
And worndering is that all I would need or I would have to order something else too? I don;t want to open it and not able to put it back b'coz of some $0.50 ring or seam I forgot to order
2# I have read about some O-ring on other thread but I don;t see any o-ring on real oem site. Am I gonna need any O-ring?
3# Do I need to use any gasket seal to put new gasket back in?
4# Any special trick/care?
5# Is CRP a OEM or good brand?

When I did the filter and fill on my '93 525iT using a kit bought from AZautoparts (for a bit more money, but w/ free shipping) the only thing missing was replacement aluminum washers for the fill and drain bolts. I reused mine and they leaked. Do yourself a favor and buy new aluminum washers if they aren't in your kit.

Oh, and no o-ring or sealant used when I did mine, no leaks in the short time since replacing the aluminum washers. Have a fluid pump on hand, don't fill the front pan to the very top when you put it back up or you will be wearing ATF, have a good scraper on hand to clean the old gasket away without gouging the aluminum. CLEAN, clean, clean!

Can I user a very find sand paper for cleaning old gasket? what did you use for it? And about front pan, I was thinking to put without ATF since will be cheking ATF level from back pan multipal times after starting engine and moving through each of gear. Is that going to be problem?

My local BMW dealership parts department turned me on to a couple washer as freebies - I have a good relationship with them from past repair projects and they aren't worth the cost of a reciept. I wouldn't use sandpaper - especially on the aluminum. You really don't want any grit or lint getting in the system. I used a wire wheel on the steel pans and scraped the aluminum transmission body mounting surfaces. It comes off pretty easily because sealant isn't used. Directions I found at Pelican.com said to fill the front pan - I did - it's really not too tough. Maybe get a couple cans of parts cleaner (brake cleaner) to clean the mating surfaces and such. Remove and reinstall the large pan magnet and clean clean clean.

One more question I have for you. After filter and fluid change, did you notice any improvement in you tranny shifting or performance?

I did this job to my 535i auto right before I sold it. You DO need the O-ring. You DO NOT need gasket sealer.
I got a kit from O'Reileys Auto parts. Very inexpensive, Not cheap quality.
...And YES, I noticed a huge differance in the cars performance afterwards.
