Hey folks,
I'm new on this forum, so don't shoot me ;-).
I got an E34 525TD Touring and the rear wiper won't work. The cool thing that pops out to spray cleaning stuff works (how do u call that ?), but the wiper itself aint moving or making any sound at all.
The motor of the wiper is working. I've tried with an 12V battery connecting, and it started moving. The wiring between the body/trunk (where you put in water) an de window/hatch at the motor is ok. I first thought it was cracked.
So I guess it is some relais problem. I've also checked the fuse near the relaibox under the seat. Also in the relaisbox (where also is the relais of the front wiper), all relais look clean.
I've tried to check the switch at the wheel. But couldn't find the right plug or connection since I could find how te dismantle the casing arround the wheel.
Anyone has an idea or something what is wrong, or where the relais is located?
Thank you very much!!

I'm having a problem with the rear wiper on the '92 Touring I just picked up. It works, but you never know where it will swipe, or where it will stop. Sometimes it wipes half the window, and half the hatch.
Sorry, the car is from 1993Originally Posted by Javier

Guys,
Check the spring-loaded pin that drives the wiper arm and engages in the cicular drive wheel on the hatch door. It should push in and out but may be stuck in - mine was. Bit of lube did wonders.

The mechanical part is ok. I don't have power coming tot motor...Originally Posted by calmloki
Rear Wiper/Washer Interval Control Module (A36). It is located in the Right Hand side luggage compartment (see picture).
The wires coming into the control are as follows:
Brown/Black: Wash request. Ground when lever operated to wash.
Brown/Violet: Wipe request. Ground when lever operated to wipe or wash.
Violet/Gray: Battery power. 12 Vdc when ignition key request.
Black/Yellow: Wiper motor. Module feeds 12 volts there to operate motor.
Black/Red: Wiper in park signal. Ground when wiper in park.
Brown: Ground feed for the module.
Check the socket for this signals, and if all present and still not feeding voltage to the motor, consider opening and debugging the module or replacing it.
Remember that opening the window shuts down the system. As long as you have washing motor on, system should be operative.

I'm no further help then - guess you will have to start tracking the problem backward: did you apply power to the motor at the relay location, thus checking the motor to relay wiring? Bentley claims relays 1 and 2 for the rear wiper motor, but I haven't identified their locations. There is also a micro-switch that opens a brown ground wire to stop motor running when the hatch is open. Fuses #18 at the front power dist. box and #37 at the rear box.
So this is in the trunk I supose? On the right side near the wheel? Between back seat and the little hatch where the water reservoir is in. Or am I wrong?Originally Posted by Javier
