Default T Star price from BMW (1996)

    Hi guys,
I'm still fantasizing about finding some genuine T Stars at a garage sale for $50 somewhere but no luck as yet. Anyway I've got a full colour/full line BMW accessory brochure from 1995/96 and I thought I might share some info.

'Standard' T star ('M' System II)
    wheel 8x17 $699.20/ option 9x17 for rear $788.25
    cover $194.30
    centre cap $49.25
TOTAL AU$942.75 (per wheel sans tyre)
    Polished Rim T Star
    wheel 8x17 $795.15/option 9x17 for rear $860.05
cover (unpainted-choose your own colour) $194.30
    centre cap $49.25
TOTAL AU$1038.70 (per wheel sans tyre)

    Bottle Caps AU$492
    Cross SpokesAU$583

So in essence if you wanted the 'standard' T star as an option it would cost you about AU$4500/US$3381/BGP1827 including tyres for 4! That was some serious money in 1996. For some kind of example I was working at the Sydney Opera House at that time as the Assistant Manager of the Theatre Bars section having 80 staff under me and taking home less than AU$500/US$375/GBP287 per week.
    Cheers

I think it's still just as expensive -- but it could have been a bug in the website I'm referring to.

At BM Tech in Melbourne, Australia they are selling t stars for $1068 per unit -- what isn't clear is if 1 unit is 1 rim, or if it's a set of four. Proceeding to put the product into their shopping card puts a unit count of 4 by default -- over $4K for a set of rims that have been around for 10 years!?

Paid $1500.00* for my set of s/h genuine 'T' Stars inc. a set of Toyo tyres with about 80% tread left.
If I valued the tyres at say $500.00 (I've done 35,000kms on them since) then I really paid $1k for the set of 'T' Stars.
So at $250.00 per wheel I can't complain!

*BTW - That's Aussie dollars! About $1,150.00 USD.
