The little pastic thing is to put your middle seat belt buckle into to keep it up and accesible.

See my thread on headliners. The rear shelf will probably not be too bad but go easy on the glue. Make sure you glue the cloth in the recessed areas first. A drill with a wire brush on it will speed removal of old glue and crap.
