    Default Making the gearbox less noisy

    What oil can I use to make the gearbox less noisy? It isn't whinning, but still, in first and second gears I can hear it from inside.
    1994 520i with M50 engine, manual transmission and air conditioner.

    Mileage is 239000km (guess its about 148000 miles). Currently using Mobil1 ATF Premium 220.

    Is there any grade of oil which would make the gearbox quiter?

    Already, so one option would be an ATF additive for older trannies, not a leak stop, but an oil conditoner type additve may help.

    Redline MTL its a 75w90 - heavier than the ATF.
