Remote Start Alarm System that bypasses "CODE"

Did a few searches and couldn't find an answer... Maybe some of the more technical folks have a solution. I've been considering installing a new alarm system, with remote start, in the vehicle. However, I ALWAYS use the CODE function built into the OBC to secure that the vehicle is immobilized, if someone does attempt to break in and try to drive away. My question is this. Is there an alarm system out there that will work with the BMW's OBC to bypass having to put in a CODE if the remote start function is used? If not, would anyone have an idea of how to build/program the remote/obc to send a designated CODE, so that the car believes the CODE was entered?

The way I picture it Jasen, but I have never researched the workings of CODE... is like this....

Ignition Switch -> OBC -> If Code Off -> Ignition signal -> ECU

if code is on

Ignition Switch -> OBC -> If Code On -- Enter Code --- ->Ignition signal -> ECU

So, in theory then, if you could figure out which wire is the ignition signal OUT OF the OBC, you could just wire the remote starter on there... but I am not sure if its a digital thing or not. Actually, I could let you know! I have my car on standalone but still have my OBC, I should try and do code and see if the car starts without the factory ECU being in there. Then, we will know whether the OBC is intercepting the ignition switch signal or if it is an internal function of the ECU. Ie., if my car starts with the code on, its a function of the OBC interrupting the turn on of the ECU. I have no factory ECU to do anything in this, and MegaSquirt definitely does not have an ignition lock out.

Ok, I set code to 1234 removed key, put key in, cranked, and car starts... so it must be a feature specific to the ECU and the OBC and not just a simple switch... so... I dunno that you could use the CODE function AND remote start.

CODE turns off just spark (fuel too?), it will let you crank, just not start.

However, don't think it's as simple as you want it to be, looks like you would have to not use CODE if you were going to remote start.

I'm confused because you have 2 e34s listed...which one are you contemplating adding the remote start too?

If its the 1995 530i and it has a mfg date after 1/95...it may be easier...and using your CODE is redundant (see info below about EWS I). Locking the car from the outside (with the master key or double-locked with your BMW keyless entry remote) is just like using the OBC's CODE...the starter is immobilized. If its the 525i...then you'd have to rethink using the CODE if you want remote start.

EWS II from 1/95-up also immobilizes the car just as if you had used the OBC and entered a CODE (see 2nd bullet in grey box in pic below). And, BMWs with EWS II have a chip embedded in the key's head that sends an ISN (individual serial number) to the EWS control unit and ECU that allows the car to start. Without the key, the ignition, fuel, and spark will remain immobilized until the ISN from the key is recognized. In BMWs with EWS, the OBC's CODE feature only keeps those who have access to your car keys from taking the car.

What I've heard folks do that have EWS II and want remote start feature...is they "hide" a key in the car (like deep inside the dash near the ignition)...that way when they initiate remote start...the ISN can be read from the key hidden in the dash and the car will start.

spark & fuel are shut off...if the fuel wasn't shut off, too...then the cylnders would be flooded with fuel as the engine cranks.

if you install a remote start /alarm system wont it include a immobiliser function of its own,thus making CODE redundant
