You'll need 20mm of spacer.
look for E34, 32, 31, & 39 (with hubcentric rings)

I'm considering buying a set of 16 or 17 inch alloys on ebay to replace my standard 15s.
Which other models' wheels will fit the e34? (eg e39, e46?)
I beleive some may need spacers
Thanks

Vee ave vays of dealing vid your kind...........
What he said. Spacers just dont work well. Wheels that fit an e39 work just fine on an e34, with hubcentric rings.Originally Posted by Blitzkrieg Bob
I had good service and prices, with lakeshore wheel and tire- got a set of 17 inch M5 reps, with pirelli p6's mounted, Roadforce ballanced, all lugs, center caps and centric rings ,shippped for total of $1125.
If you put on 18" wheels, hope your road surfaces are smooth and have no potholes- pretty easy to prang a rim when your tires are not much thicker than rubber bands- and if your car is lowered, the ride will be rougher than a cob.

So, take my advice, don't be stupid like me.
Besides, 5-series wheels look so much better altogether.

All BMW 5/6/7/8/Z8 wheels are interchangable and have the same specs EXCEPT the E39 5 series hub.
They all have:
- 5x120 wheel bolt pattern
- 11mm-32mm wheel offset range
- 72.56mm wheel hub (except the e39 5series which has a 74.1mm hub...hub centric rings are required)
All...even includes the new 5/6/7 models.
The BMW 3/Z3/Z4/X3/X5 models have wheel offsets that are too high (35mm-48mm) and would require wheel spacers (just as others have mentioned. EXCEPT the e30 M3 & E46 M3...their rear wheel offset is approx 25mm...so you could conceivably mount these rear wheels (only) on all four corners.
