I surprised that contact cement didn't hold
I need to "glue down" the interior door panel as the vinyl is pulling off in some areas. I tried contact cement and 3m adhesive but it didn't stick.
What does BMW use as it doesn't appear to leave any residue behind when you peel it away.
Thanks.

Can you take a pic of the panel, different areas require different methods.
I had extremely bad pulling away of the vinyl a few months back and had to do alot.

Gorilla glue (or other similar urethane glue) seems to work well, but it foams up as it cures, which will push the glue out from glue joints that are not firmly clamped, which is hard to do with the door panels. I braced the door panel against the other side of the car while it cured with a piece of lumber cut to size. Just be careful to wipe up any excess glue that escapes during curing.

i peeled back as much as i could, taped off the front and used the nastiest spray adhesive i could get from an upholsterer. I got some on my hands and it didn't come off for weeks. I also used about 50 2" binder clips around the bottom and sides.
Try my old thread for ideas. I used gorilla glue and upholsery staples.

I've done lots of upholstery work. I would never use hot glue of any kind, it will come off during hot summers. Gorilla glue will bulge the panel because it expands. Contact cement is usually not strong enough to hold. I've used commercial or industrial contact cement that works really well. Most of the time I will use 2 part contact cement or epoxy. Brush it on thin.
I order my glues from dealer venders like Metra Electronics, Select Products, or Stinger electronics. I prefer 2 part contact cement with the spray activator.
