anyone want to give me a few pointers? mike miller says the job is pretty straight foreward. no need for permatex since the gaskets are neoprene. i was thinking about using enigne oil to slide the grommets onto the nuts tho.

I'm getting ready to do mine next weekend. There is some good info on e38.org for doing them that I was going to follow.
Hate to post a link to another forum, but here it is:

Hope this helps you.

Is it just me, or have there been a disproportionate number of M60 valve cover posts of late? Must be that time of the month.
If you haven't, might want to do a search, likely to find a few pages of good info.

guys, I'm also doing both intake gaskets and valve cover gasket this weekend. Mine has an extremely rough idle. The valve cover doesn't leak too bad, but I will swap them anyway while in there. This will be the first time I tear down the car this much myself - usually just oil, fuel, air / filters change.
Do we really need permatex? If yes, which one?
John, thanks for the link - very good detailed info there.
Good luck!
