Assume its because your new car has a duff OBC,it seems its the year thats important,I swapped mine via a scrappie and had to go through four until i got the right model year.Try the yard at frogs island.
Still not been able to answer this question, but does anyone know if the 525i OBC will retrofit into the 525TdS?
The cablings all there, just want to know if it needs a coding plug to work?

Hmm, I've got a spare dash (next to radio) OBC from the last car, which didnt need a coding plug - my 525tds has got that horrible analogue clock in it and I wanted to replace it with the obc...Originally Posted by Barney Paull-Edwards
If it needs the coding plug I can quite happily nab one from bmw for £20 and solder it into the OBC, but I was wondering if it will work in dumb terminal mode.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the car doesnt have an in-dash (Speedo Cluster) obc...
