When you find more power, without much work please tell us. Besides that, a chip, headers, bigger throttle body, cams, injectors, if your feeling adventurous turbo the bastard.

    Interesting,

I think the 520i would be a good car to turbo, the head is like 100% thicker in most places than the 525i engine and should stand up to a lot more abuse...

Head thickness is very rarely the failure point on any of these engines. I dunno unless you go all out a 2.0L turbo isn't at all worth it in a 3600 lb car.

get a dyno run before and after the new exhaust - just in case you get a power DROP.

Too right - cheap to buy, easy to obtain and it can be done in a day!

That's where I'm thinking of going if my current engine ever needs a rebuild. There's supposed to be plenty of them around. M52B28 would also be nice but I suspect these wouldn't hook up properly.

i promise you there will be little to no real power to the ground difference with a exhaust mod.exhaust is simply part of a lengthy process to get some mid range but predominantly top end pull, not really power that you will notice in the mid range usable range where the M-20 is horribly underpowered.sell your M-20 car and go to the bank and get more money and buy a big displacement bmw.this is the cheapest method of making a bmw go fast reliably. bones
