This happened to me but i just got another gauge cluster. Probably a bad cap. but i didn't feel like trying to fix it. It probably happened because you may have had the car on (ignition to position 1 or 2)
I took the instrument panel out to clean all the crap that gets between the panel and the dash. Now after everything is back in, the speedometer does not work, odometer lites up w/ trip showing 000 but does not advance and fuel gauge does not work. Everything else works. So any thoughts (I did the search and read up on the capacitor and speed sensor).

If it worked perfect before you took it out for cleaning, then I would not think about the capacitors.
Basically you have to check if all the connections are done again.
Remove the connetcors, spray them with electr. contact spray, connect again to the cluster and then see what happens.
See if by mistake you forgot to connect something or something got loose.
It looks like the speed sensor cable is not connected? Black/white color I think.
Also check at the backside of the OBC.
