I have seen that the m5 (i think) has just black plastic around the shifter. infact, i think that it has indented storage areas as well. is that part available for the auto? i want to ditch the wood, and replace with black.

I believe the part exists but I do not think you can get it for an auto - someone on the old board was thinking if they removed their console the hidden storage trays would be underneath. This was an 'M' specific detail as far as I know.
