Ok so I've noticed that my right front tire has developed a slow leak. Refilled it with air and took it to Mavis today to see if they could repair the tire.
First I get a call back saying that my brakes are shot....ok yeah I'll take care of that separately, get another call back later..."Your wheel is bent" really? Ok so blah blah blah after about an hour of trying to debate what I should do as far as repairing it. I wanted to just put one 15" instead of a donut because they told me that I cant go over 45 MPH with the donut. I asked why a donut would be safer than a standard 15" blah blah blah "oh its no good" whatever. well I get the car back and uess what....the donut.....its exactly the same as my 15". Ok Having ranted about all this. I never knew an E34 donut was just a standard 15" now is it true I cat go over 45MPH? its a got an H rated tire on it(I said his to the mavis guy and he had no idea what i just said, "H rated?"...yeah H rated meaning a speed rating of 130MPH) I'm a little worried that someone who specializes in tires wouldnt know this but whatever. So again seeing as how the donut is actually a proper wheel and tire can I go over 45? Nothing mind you

yes. it is a regular alloy rim and tire, at least it is on mine.

yeah they told me they put the donut on and it turns out its pretty uch identical to a standard 15" wheel so if thats the case why would there be any taboo speeds with it on?

Wait, where did you get a donut for a e34? I have seen a full size steel wheel for a e34, never a donut ... and yes, it really isn't recommended you go over 60mph with the donut on there.

Put a stock wheel on there and go as fast as the mood takes you.

....You shouldn't be restricted to 45mph with a full size spare tire.

All e34's (at least ones in the US) came with fullsize spares, some even came with a matching alloy rim for example with the basketweaves.....lol have u never lifted up your trunk carpet? lol....

My 535i spare wheel is a full size basketweave alloy with the proper spec tire on it. Sounds like your tire specialist is not very good at discriminating between a pizza-cutter donut tire and a full size tire. You shouldn't be restricted to 45mph with a full size spare tire.

Also sorry to hear that your rim might be bent, i think mine one of mine are as well, even after spending 300 bucks on balancing and tires my car still has a vibration drives me nuts...altho i dont get how you can lose air with a bent rim? Maybe its leaking from the bead?

if the wheel is bent the balamcing place should have noticed it.A bent wheel can prevent tne tyre from seating properly so you lose air at the bead.Only solutions are
1) straighten wheel
2)Install tube until wheel is fixed
