Let me get this straight.
You got rid of the 525 because it was heavy on fuel and now have a 535?!!
Well the 535 will use more fuel than the 525!
I sold my e34 525 about 1 year ago, it was to fuel thirsty.. So i bought a 1998 Vw Passat 1.9tdi (4x4), oh man did i get great mpg on that one.. So about March 2007 we found out that my girlfriend was pregnant, so i traded the passat in for a 1999 Passat 1.9tdi (4x4) wagon..
Now, after 1 yeard without my e34 I couldnt resist the offer i got from a friend, he wanted to give me a 1988 535i for my 1975 volvo 242turbo.
I`ve allways kept the volvo, and have turned down several better offers. It was my first car, and Ive spent hundreds of hours in restoring it and upgradeing to a 2.3 turbo engine.. But this offer i couldnt resist.
The 535i needs alot of TLC, body has some rust and bumps.. Engine runs silky smooth, and the gearbox is new.
It was orginally a 535iA, but a prevoius owner got it rebuilt to a manual box at the dealer.. (yeah that must have cost him alot)
Im gonna add some pictures of the (not so)beauty tomorrow.

1990 E34 535iA, 215,000kms (130,000 miles).
Dual Climate, Rear Headrests, Rollerblind, M-Tech Wheel,
Memory Seats, EAT Chip, T-Stars.
That's funny because I frequent turbobricks.com* even though I don't own a Volvo, and have been getting hungry for a 240 turbo to goof with. Wouldn't trade my E34 for one, though.
*Probably where you will find your friend, next.
I know the 535 is thirstyer than the 525.
The 525 was my daily driver, now the daily driver is a Passat 1,9tdi.
The 535 replaces the volvo, wich had poor mpg aswell.
it wasnt a "real" turbo though, it was a selfmade setup with a boostprepared carburettor. good for about 150-180bhp.
