Anyone know how to remove the back from the base on the E34 sport seat?
Specifically, I need to swap the seat wiring harnesses between two sport seats and I can't figure out how to remove the harness where it traverses through hinge. It appears I need to separate the base from the back.
The BMW factory manual is not clear on the procedure.
Any help appreciated!
Thx,
Jeff

Hi Robin...
Same old same old.
I'm in deeper than that - trying to remove the back frame from bottom. I put a post on UUC and it looks like I have an answer. There's a couple of spring loaded pins that need to be pushed out of the way and the back lifts off.

Here's the answer courtesy of Brett at KMS.
Remove the backrest cover.
About 6" above each pivot point is a lever. Depress the lever and lift
up. It usually takes a pair of channel lock pliers to get the force
required to release the levers.
The entire back rest assembly will come off the two posts that are a
part of the reclining mechanism.
