E36 oil pump vs E34 oil pump M50

Are the vanos and non-vanos oil pumps the same type/code?

Hey guys

I am wanting to replace the oil pump in my build. I have an E34 front sump pan and need the E34 front pick up. I have the pick up, in fact I have a whole oil pump. However, its got 200k miles on it and I just feel bad putting it back in.

I want to know whether the VAC oil pump upgrade pump will work in an E34. I saw a E36 pump in person but I thought it looked different than the E34 one, but I hadn't had them side by side. Now looking at the part number its off by 1 digit, which makes me think maybe its just a difference in pick up tube.

Any one KNOW for sure before I call VAC and order a pump?
