Wheel Spigots E34...

Your average UK-based chain tire store or garage won't have a clue. Ask a local chav where he got the chrome wheels for his Citroen, and you'll likely be pointed to a side-street specialty wheel shop that can sell you the right spigot rings.

Can any body help me out with this...?

I recently bought my car - BMW 1994, 520i 24v. The wheels on it aren't the correct size. When i get upto around 60mph i get an awful wheel judder! I've had the car tracked and wheels balanced and still nothing. I was told by the garage that i need some wheel spigots?

I've gone everywhere i can think of and nobody knows what size i need or where i can get them from. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have taken the codes down from my inner alloy...

Sorry for sounding stupid but i honestly don't know what i'm on about. The codes inside the alloy are:

8JJX17H2

TAN3077

PCD120

ET2.0

The code on my wheel hub is: 14H400.

I had the exact same thing, PO had fitted E39 rims without the hubcentric rings and I was like juddering all over the road, really felt dangerous.. Took me a while to figure out that this was my problem as I´d never have thought that someone would sell a car with wrong fit rims, oh well made me change the crooked right front brakedisc before arriving at hubcentric rings that eventually fixed all my judderings..

They are really inexpensive, so go get them a.s.a.p. and join the world of comfy and safe bmw rides!

Oh and btw.: Get them in aluminium, lasts far longer.

Looks like the E60 M5 style 166-M wheel, but more likely a copy/replica. They're all over Ebay, being said to be any combination of OEM, replica, or both, and offered for all BMW models in different sizes: http://www.ebayitem.com/260146124439

Hard to tell what you've actually got on your car but if they were a fitment for an E39, or maybe (worse) some "universal" center bore size, you probably will need an adapter. Only you can tell us. An E34 takes a 72.5mm hub. The E39 takes a 74mm hub. Measure, if the wheel manufacturer/distributor/seller isn't smart enough to know.

Thanks for the info so far guys, i've emailed the alloy people.... As for chavs in saxo's- they shouldn't be on the road! I'd rather swerve all over the road with my mis-alligned wheels than talk to a chav - haha! thanks guys..

Does anybody know what size the wheels actually are? Are they from a E36?

not from a 3 series,i assume the offset is correct it should be 20 mm and i amm asuming that the 2.0 is 2 cm or a misread 20...the hub size will be wrong.,almost certainly 74.1 you need 72.5 as stated above...Once you have found out what hub dia meter the wheels have you will be ble to go to a good tyre/wheel place and they will be able to get the rings for you...you need to be aware they are there.If you have an original spare the ring will have to come off before you fit the spare if you ever need to use it.If you ever have any wheel work done in the future would be best to advise the place that the rings are there..they often end up stuck on the wheel or the hub.

If you are sure the bmw wheels are straight and balanced, see if they are true on the car. If the hubs were bent when the control arms were damaged it would feel like the wheels were out of balance bad. Also check the ball joints with the spring tension unloaded from them.

I'm pretty sure mine are the same - e39 replica's... I can probably still source you some alluminium ones from a guy I know PM me if you still need them! I think he does them for £5 when on ebay they go for £23+! Mine rides perfectly with them no shimmy at all - well worth the money. Also, make sure your wheels are balanced, it makes a huge difference.
