In some (or maybe all?) models there is a filter in the reservoir for the power steering fluid. It might be worth changing the filter and fluid. You can find out whether you've got a filter from realoem (do a search on this forum) or your dealer.

New ZF resorvoirs with the new filter in them are $20-$25. Easy swap-but do the fluid by the book too- you have todrain from the lowest point.. I use the Castrol Synthetic Dexron replacement- just cos it uses so little and I can leave it and not worry again.

The noise is from cavitation, you need to bleed the air out, or rebild the pump or fix the connetion to it if its ben bodgied by the PO (this takes care)

I have complete overhauled my power steering pump, no more noise, very gentle power steering now. Just the gaskets, seal on the shaft and the 2 profile rings on the impeller.

first fix your PC, then the car ;-)

What car is it, manufacturing year etc.
Does the engine crank? Or nothing at all when you turn the ignition key?
You have to tell us more so that we can help you.

What have you checked so far? Ignition, spark plugs, fuel pump/delivery system and so on.
