Default Now my other 540 is runnung bad

My 95 540/6 is running really bad. At idle it sounds like a 4 cylinder. check engine light is on. When u give it power throught the gears it accelerates real slow, stumbling, then all of the sudden it clears up, CEL light goes off and car will over rev for a second, then settle down where it does not want to accelerate again, whole car just does not feel right while driving, some backfiring and overall stumbling. Can not get anything to come up in the stomp test. Changed MAF with my other 540, no help/ Possible fuel filter or pump? Seems one of my 540's are always breaking!

does sound like a fuel issue but to clear up like that is strange. I would try changing the fuel filters to see if they are partially clogged and then go from there. Reboot the computer after that and then if the cel comes on recheck the stomp test. Remember backfiring through the intake is fuel backfiring through exhaust is electrical (in most cases)

From your description, it sounds like you have an ignition coil that is going (has gone) bad. That is the first (and easiest) thing I would check.

I have a couple of brand new Bosch 02 sensors I may not need..... think they could be the problem?

It can be two things... ignition and fuel as everyone said. Check your spark plugs to see if there is any abnormal condition. I'd probably bet on bad fuel pump.

clean the ICV with carb cleaner to eliminate it from the equation.
