double locked doors, battery empty, key in locked trunk

so what to do? For 2 days Elias in Brazil tried to get into the car. He is a pilot and often away from home, so when he came back, the battery was completely empty on his E32 750. No problem he thought, he asked a friend to help him. Opened the trunk with the only key he has, as they needed something out of the trunk to get power to the car from underneath the car by jacking it up. That was the plan. Suddenly the trunk lid dropped down and the key was inside the trunk.
2 key specialists came with all their nice tools, they failed, but promised to come back the next day with more tools. Then his mechanic Nelson came and fixed it, the Brazilian way to get to a key in the trunk, look here

indeed. the 325 only had one key when I bought it and I quickly made a second one to be stored in my desk

In many cases used cars only have one key. The one I received with mine was pretty worn and is now my spare key. Having a key made at the dealer is far less expensive than the trouble of trying to open a car with the only key in it. I guess this speaks volumes for how well BMW designed the security systems of the car though

I bought a cheap blanl key on Ebay. Cut to fit by the local well equipped key service in town and have it always somewhere on the car in one of these magnetic boxes for emergency, here are some blank keys

A jimmy bar doesn't work on BMWs? If you call AAA, they'll usually just pop the locks with one of them.

Works fine . . . as long as you don't have an EWS car with the chipped key!

I guess you could still unlock the door but I'm more worried about losing a key than locking mine inside the car.
