Test Function 03... What's your reading?

On the 'hidden' test functions on the OBC (i.e when you press 10 and 1000 together) I happened to stumble upon test "03" whilst idling and found my reading varied between 2.1 L/H and 2.2 L/H (Averaging roughly 2.15 L/H). This was with the car fully warmed up after a while driving round town...

Just curious on what other people's readings are (everyone but particularly m30's!) due to variances in valve timing, injectors etc...

If you'd have a go and let me know I'd appreciate it, curiosity is a wonderful thing.

Car hasnt been run for a couple of days. Fired it up and let it idle till it hit normal operating temp. OBC shows 1.4 to 1.5 l/h and no, I havent 'adjusted' it . I calculate yours uses 48.3% more fuel at idle

Errrrr... It's been a while... I think you unlock by adding the numbers of the date together and using that as the 'unlock code'. I think Whisky helped me with mine - What's the score Colin?!

to unlock you press 1000 and 10, go to test 19 and enter the sum of the current day and month. worth it!

Damn... You got me wishing I done it before changing the injectors. I wonder if it even accounts for the new ones - Doubt it.

I dont think the system actually meters fuel. It probably just counts injector pulses or something. In which case your shiny new ones may actually be more economical

I like your 'glass is half full' approach... Weirdly with the new ones I seem to be getting better mileage around town, but not quite as high on the motorway. I'll have to do a formal test on it!
