being that i had just washed it for the shoot, we didn't drive it much in a spirited way, to keep it clean as possible.

Nice pictures... and definitely a good looking car.... has he shattered the tailshaft yet?

Broke one on the test drive... heard they're doing a major recall on them... which would be the second time .. first was the battery cable, now the tailshafts on a glass transmission >_<

(I should clarify... the salesperson actually encouraged us to play with launching it)

I used to work for a GM stealership... I don't recall a car that had to have two campaign stickers put under the hood before they've even sold yet.

considering it's the same transmission found in the Dodge Viper, I wouldn't call it made of glass.

    Ooooohhhhh really?

Last I checked, Vipers generally use Tremec T-56's and aftermarket builders still swear by them .. example : http://rsgear.com/viper.asp

Where as the new Camaro uses a new Tremec T-6060 which GM has quietly claimed they have fixed.. but will not disclose what caused the explosions and the familiar sound of hail.. but on the undercarriage and pieces of metal shower the road.

    http://lsxltx.com/tag/tr6060/

I should point out, I really REALLY like the car still and almost gave up the other E39 as partial trade towards one for my retired dad, but after the test drive it left a real sour taste in his mouth and he opted to keep the 528.

Older Vipers use the T56. The 2008 and up Viper uses a Tremec T6060, even the ACR version:

    http://www.viperexchange.com/news/20...er-acr-review/

If I'm not mistaken, it's also in the Challenger SRT-8 and the Shelby GT500. It's essentially the evolution of the T56, which probably won't be popping up in too many future production cars. The T-6060 is stronger. The problems with the Camaro are basically related specifically to the Camaro application and haven't popped up in any other vehicles using this transmission.

There's a wiki page about the T-6060 too:

Heh I saw one of these on the road the other day. They were road testing LHDs of these here in Australia (you know it was partially developed in Australia, yes?). Not sure if they will sell them in Oz or not.

Apologies for the blurry photo; this was taken in motion on my iPhone.
