without the tool? It is the distributor replacement sensor on the old technology 3, 5l and other motors. I've been told that I can replace it without the tool if I use a sharpie marker to mark the relative positions of things on the old and new, and line them up, but I'm not certain, really, what there is to mark. thanks.
The procedure is exactly as I thought, just use a scribe to put a HEAVY scratch between the original gears and body, and between the body and the block, and you'll be close enough for government work. Too bad the shiatty A1 cardone part special ordered for me by advance is about 2 onehundredths of an inch wide to fit in the hole because of quality chinese casting. FML.
